At NESS, stewardship is more than a core value, it is a way of life. NESS uses the sport of sailing as a dynamic platform for education, personal growth, and environmental responsibility. Through a collaboration with The Sailing Museum & National Sailing Hall of Fame, NESS extends its impact by offering engaging, mission-aligned programs within the museum and Hall of Fame setting.

Both organizations share a foundational belief that sailing is an ideal platform for teaching STEM concepts as well as SEL skills. When students are on the water, they are not only applying physics and math principles, but they are building essential life skills such as communication, adaptability, perseverance, and leadership. These experiences serve students far beyond the classroom and prepare them for success in all areas of life.

This innovative collaboration brings students on unique educational journeys that combine classroom instruction, interactive museum exploration, and hands-on learning. These experiences foster a deeper connection to the ocean and a sense of accountability for its health and future.

Whether sailing, kayaking, earning a CT Certificate of Personal Watercraft Operation, or exploring the coastal ecosystem of Stonington, participants are invited to connect with NESS’s mission and become better stewards of the sea.
