14th Annual Catch a Curl Youth Surf Classic & Beach Cleanup Event Summary

Catching Waves, Catching Change

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 14th Annual Catch a Curl Youth Surf Classic & Beach Cleanup this past Saturday at Westerly Town Beach!

This year’s event was our best tournament yet — with the highest level of competition, steady swell all day, and plenty of sunshine to keep the energy high. From first-timers to seasoned riders, every surfer impressed with skill, sportsmanship, and stoke.

After the last heat, our community came together to celebrate International Coastal Cleanup Day with a beach cleanup, working side by side to protect our shoreline. Together, we collected:
- 504 total pieces of trash, approximately 30 lbs
- Most Found: 114 cigarette butts (22% of total data)
- Rarest Find: Guitar Pick
- Most Common Type: Plastic

Together, we proved that the ocean connects us all — through both play and stewardship.

We’re so grateful to our surfers, families, sponsors, volunteers, and partners for making this day possible. We can’t wait to see you at the 15th Annual Catch a Curl next year!

Congratulations to our top surfers!
