Mohegan Commons Apartments, Norwich 

During the summer, resident students from Mohegan Commons Apartments spent time at Ocean Beach Park, exploring Long Island Sound through immersive outdoor activities. Students kayaked, snorkeled, and seined in Alewife Cove to observe marine organisms up close, hiked nature trails, explored the coastline, and conducted water-quality testing.

These programs connected students to the coastal environment while encouraging exploration, teamwork, and scientific inquiry.

The Ocean Beach Adventure Programs were offered at no cost to participating Mohegan Commons resident students and included transportation to and from the apartments.

Winthrop Apartments, New London 

Resident students from Winthrop Apartments took part in Green Harbor Sailing Programs, where they learned to sail Opti sailboats while exploring STEM concepts on the water.

Through hands-on sailing experiences, students investigated the physics of motion, wind energy, forces, and simple machines — building both sailing skills and a deeper understanding of how science applies in real-world environments.

The Green Harbor Sailing Programs were offered free of charge to participating Winthrop Apartments resident students and included transportation to and from the apartments.
