Happy Earth Day from NESS: Inspiring Everyday Environmental Stewardship
Earth Day at NESS: A Daily Celebration of Our Planet
Every April, Earth Day invites us all to pause and reflect on the incredible planet we call home, and to think about how we can protect it for generations to come. But at NESS, environmental stewardship isn’t just something we focus on one day a year, it’s the base of all our programs, lessons, and everyday practices.
From our marine science classes to our sailing adventures, we use nature as both our classroom and our inspiration. By getting students outside and hands-on with nature, we help build a deeper understanding of how our actions, big and small, can impact the environment. We believe the best way to protect the Earth is by connecting with it, learning from it, and taking responsibility for its future.
We also love encouraging our community to take part in this mission. Whether it’s teaching younger generations how to care for the ocean or simply starting conversations about sustainability, it all makes a difference, and small actions can go a long way.
Here are a few easy ways you can help keep our planet clean and healthy:
- Pick up five pieces of litter whenever you’re out on a walk
- Start a compost bin for food scraps at home
- Use natural light when possible instead of flipping on the lights
- Support brands and businesses that prioritize sustainability

This Earth Day, we invite you to reflect, recharge, and recommit to doing what you can to protect the planet we all share.
Also, the 6th Annual Recycle Regatta is coming to a close on April 30! This nationwide challenge has sparked so much creativity and awareness, as students build and test boats made entirely from recycled materials. It’s a perfect example of learning in action, and we’re so proud of all of our participants.
Let’s keep the momentum going far beyond Earth Day.
