DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY: NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE

NESS staff and AmeriCorps members came together on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. NESS joined thousands of volunteers across the country on this national day of service by serving the New London and Stonington communities. MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities. AmeriCorps has been charged with leading this effort for the past quarter century.

FRESH New London

FRESH New London builds momentum for food system change by connecting communities, with a focus on the youth of New London. We work to create conditions for everyone to access food with dignity and have real control over their food access. We grow food as a way to reclaim land, highlight cultural relevance, inspire leadership, and incite change. 

New London Community Meal Center

The purpose and business of this non-membership and nonprofit corporation is to provide nutritious meals, and offer comfort, and hope for the future in an atmosphere of dignity and respect regardless of race, color, religion, creed, sex, age, marital status, national origin, mental or physical disability, political belief or affiliation, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression.

Operation Fresh Start – New Beginnings

Operation Fresh Start serves residents of New London County, CT including children in foster situations, young adults, and families.

Stonington Garden Club, Inc.

Established in 1926, the Stonington Garden Club is a dynamic all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose purpose is to educate and encourage interest in the environment and conservation, support community projects, and stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening.
