Dear Friends of NESS,

After careful consideration, we have decided to turn our November 6^th Annual Gala into a virtual event. We were very much looking forward to having our NESS supporters, some 200 together, in one room. However, even ensuring that all attendees are vaccinated, the rise of break-through COVID cases and lack of clarity on booster shots makes having an in-person event too big a risk.

In all our programing, on and off the water, safety is our biggest concern. The Annual Gala is by far our largest fundraiser and is central to our ability to operate. The potential of having a surge in cases which could force us to cancel the event, would create a large financial problem. Too many students are depending on us. We hope you appreciate that if you are out in the open water and you think it is time to reef your sails, it is probably too late!

In classic NESS fashion, let me assure you our virtual event will be fun! We will showcase our programs, highlight the positive impact they are having, and give you creative opportunities to support NESS! The virtual event will commence at 6:00 PM on Saturday, November 6^th. We do encourage you to gather your friends, watch the event, and have fun in small groups. We already are aware that NESS supporters in Seattle and Cleveland are going to do just that!
