THANK YOU! – 10th Annual Catch a Curl
THANK YOU
Our 10th Annual Catch a Curl at Westerly Town Beach was a HUGE SUCCESS! We had the largest amount of surfers enter (74!!) and with their help, we were able to collect over 60 pounds of trash during our beach clean up!
We had four divisions of surfers, Big Kahuna (advanced surfers ages 15-18) competitors, Wahine (girls ages 11-14) competitors, Menehune (boys ages 11-14) competitors, and Ankle-Biters (ages 10 and under)! Congratulations to our surfers! We couldn’t have asked for a better turnout!
BEACH CLEAN UP
Following our competition, we partnered with NAMEPA (North American Marine Environment Protection Association) and ORCA (Ocean Recovery Community Alliance) to organize a beach-wide cleanup for International Coastal Cleanup Day. Our competitors, staff members, volunteers, partners, and surfer’s families collected over 60 lbs of trash and marine debris! Thank you so much to NAMEPA and ORCA for organizing the cleanup! Also, a big thanks to Coast Guard Academy Cadets for coming out to support our beach cleanup event.
SPONSORS
Catch a Curl would not be possible without our amazing sponsors, so thank you so much to the following for your generous donations and for supporting our youth surfers:
