Got the back to school blues? Missing NESS summer camp? Don’t worry, you can still enjoy the joys of ocean adventure sports and relish the last moments of summer with our annual Catch a Curl Youth Surf Competition! This is the 7th year we partnered up with the Westerly Recreation Department and North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA) for the event.
Catch a Curl will be held at the Westerly Town Beach (365 Atlantic Ave, Westerly, RI) on Saturday, September 15! The event is open to beginners through advanced youth surfers. A beach cleanup is part of the event to celebrate International Coastal Cleanup Day! Never surfed before? That’s okay! NEW this year, kids can try surfing with the support of NESS instructors before the competition for free.
