The Development Officer will advance the vision, mission, and core values of New England Science & Sailing Foundation (NESS) through a variety of strategic fundraising and engagement activities. The Development Officer coordinates all activities associated with events, manages all aspects of NESS’s annual giving program, and is responsible for the stewardship of NESS’s donors and volunteers. This position requires the ability and flexibility to prioritize activities and requires comprehensive understanding NESS’s advancement operations. The Development Officer is an exempt, year-round position that will report to the Associate Director of Advancement.

New England Science & Sailing Foundation’s nationally-recognized, award-winning ocean adventure education programs combine sailing and science for innovative STEM programming and partnerships leading to inclusiveness, experiential learning, personal growth, and stewardship of our community and environment.
Head Race Coach
Candidates should have a strong racing background with the experience, capabilities, and passion for continuing growth of local sailors. The Head Race Coach must be a self-starter and able to work within a team as well as on their own. The position has the potential to range from seasonal to year-round, depending on the ideal candidate, and reports to the Sailing Program Director.
Seasonal & Semi-Seasonal Opportunities
Candidates must be motivated, able to work within a team as well as on their own and have proven skills working with students. This position will work closely with fellow instructors, NESS support staff, and Junior Instructors. This position reports to the Sailing Program Director.
Marine Science/Adventure Sports Summer Educator
The NESS Summer Educator helps New England Science & Sailing Foundation (NESS) achieve its mission of building brighter futures through ocean adventure education. NESS Summer Educators implement high-quality programming with an active, hands-on, experientially-oriented marine science-based curriculum.
Junior Instructors, Junior Aquarists, & Internships
This volunteer position is an opportunity to gain experience teaching and supervising young students while learning and having fun in the ocean environment. Each day, Junior Instructors will assist our Marine Science staff, Adventure Sports staff or Sailing staff in all aspects of the program. We are looking for mature youth and young adults, ages 15 and up, with a contagious energy and excellent team leadership skills.
