Volunteer Opportunities

NESS depends on volunteers to help us deliver our educational programs for the community. If you are passionate about the sea, why not help us help others get out on the water to learn, make lifelong friendship and have fun? NESS depends on the support of volunteers year round. There are many ways to become involved based on your interest and skill set. Here are some of the ways volunteers have supported NESS:

  • Help at Regattas: NESS holds several regattas annually and you can serve on the Race Committee or assist in overall coordination.
  • Maintenance: Do you have experience in fiberglass work, engine repair or carpentry? There are many small and large jobs on our campus where you could add significant value.
  • Event Planning: NESS holds many events throughout the year in Stonington and in cities like New York and Boston to raise awareness of our mission. We need help coordinating the events.
  • Host a Reception: Would you like to host an event in your area to gather friends and new friends to spread the word about NESS? Use your own creativity; how about a NESS family picnic?
  • Administrative: Do you have office or computer skills? NESS has a significant flow of administrative requirements to support the students. We can use your help!
  • Financial: We are in need of assistance managing our finances. If you have an accounting or finance background, NESS can benefit from your experience.
  • Development: Fund raising is essential to supporting our programs. As program revenue currently covers less than 50% of total expenses; individuals with fund raising experience can make a significant impact.
  • Marketing: From leveraging social media to feature articles to video segments, NESS can greatly benefit from your marketing background. If you enjoy writing, you can help us spread the word about our programs and get others excited to participate.

We would love to get you and your family involved! To find out more about current opportunities or offer your services of any kind, please contact Lauren Lyons.
