Internship & Junior Instructor Opportunities

NESS Internship Opportunities NESS invites high school students, college students and recent graduates to help NESS inspire others to connect with the sea. A wide array of internships and junior instructor positions are available, from teaching young and inquisitive minds, to marine trades opportunities and even caring for the critters kept on site. Each provides an opportunity to gain experience and develop skills vital for career success. The following internship positions are available:

Summer Internships

Junior Instructor OpportunitiesThe Junior Instructor position is an opportunity to gain experience teaching and supervising young students while learning and having fun in the ocean environment. Each day, Junior Instructors will assist our Marine Science staff, Adventure Sports staff or Sailing staff in all aspects of the program. We are looking for mature youth and young adults, ages 15 and up, with a contagious energy and excellent team leadership skills. Applicants must be motivated, must be able to work within a team as well as individually, and must have a passion to work with children.

Junior Instructor - Marine Science (Summer) – ages 15 & up 

Junior Instructor - Sailing (Summer) – ages 15 & up

Junior Instructor - Adventure Sports (Summer) – ages 16 & up

Junior Aquarist Opportunities (ages 16 and up) The The Junior Aquarist position is an opportunity to create thriving saltwater aquarium systems, maintain water quality and care for local marine invertebrates and vertebrates for educational programs. Duties include: collecting critters, daily feedings, cleaning tanks, and creating displays specific to tanks. Applicant must be passionate about marine science, ocean stewardship and local critters.
